History

A Sunday School was begun in the Wilkinson Road area in 1891, and shortly thereafter informal worship services began in a private home, under Methodist auspices. A small church was opened in 1894, and was known as Strawberry Vale Methodist Church. The congregation outgrew this church, and a new building was opened in October, 1913. In 1914, this congregation was renamed Wilkinson Road Methodist Church. The minister of Wilkinson Road Methodist Church also served Garden City Methodist Church, which opened September, 1914. Upon their entry into the United Church of Canada, these two congregations were related as a single Pastoral Charge.
