History

The Maritime Museum of British Columbia, Victoria, BC, is operated by the Maritime Museum of British Columbia Society. The Museum was established in 1954 and moved to its present location in the old Court House on Bastion Square in 1964.
The Museum acquires artifacts, archival records, art works, publications and other historical reference material relating to maritime history and the maritime culture of Canada's West Coast. Its archival holdings include extensive collections of corporate and private records, personal papers, nautical charts, ships plans, photographs and art works.
