Biographical history
A.C. Mackie and his brother Hugh emigrated to Vernon from England in 1913 to establish an independent school for boys. A.C. Mackie opened the Vernon Preparatory School while his brother Hugh moved to Regina where he opened a law practice. He returned to Vernon a few years later as part of the staff of the Vernon Preparatory School. The Mackies operated the school until 1945.

The fonds consists of notebooks, diaries, a passport, records of rattlesnake expeditions, a memoir "Fin, Feather and Scale" of the Mackie brothers, a diary kept by Christianne Grace Mackie and correspondence on Mackie family genealogy, a sound recording and photographs.
