The Kamloops Museum and Archives was established in 1937 and acquires records of the City of Kamloops and of individuals, families, and organizations in Kamloops and area.

The Kamloops Museum and Archives is a community museum dedicated to the collection, preservation and display of artifacts and archival documents which relate to the history of Kamloops and the Kamloops region. Archival documents in the form of papers, maps, books, photographs, journals, film, video, cassettes, etc., are collected from the trade era beginning 1812, through the gold rush, the Overlanders, mining, ranching, railway, Victorian period, military, and twentieth century. The museum collects material for neighbouring towns which have no museum or archives.
