Biographical history
Johan Helders was born in Holland and moved to Vancouver in 1924, where he opened a restaurant. He was later the Maitre d'Hotel at the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa and the catering manager at the Hotel Vancouver. He is considered one of Canada's outstanding amateur pictorialists of the 1920s and 1930s.
