Jessie DeWolf Higginson was born in Quebec City and moved with her family to Chilliwack in 1892. She began correspondence lessons with Jessie C. Lobdell to become a kindergarten teacher. DeWolf opened what was probably the first kindergarten in Chilliwack. She ceased teaching in 1905 when she married James Higginson of Sardis.
The fonds consists of correspondence, assignments and lessons concerning kindergarten activities, as well as printed material and ephemera relating to kindergarten instruction. Fonds includes two photographs, including one of Higginson with her kindergarten class in 1899.
