History
George Gregory was born in Victoria, the son of Mr. Justice Francis B. Gregory of the Supreme Court of B.C. He received his B.A. from the University of British Columbia in 1938. He articled in Nova Scotia for a brief period before attending Harvard Law School. He graduated from Harvard in 1941 with an L.L.B., which was subsequently upgraded to a J.D. He was called and admitted in B.C. in October 1941, a month after being placed on active service with the Royal Canadian Navy. He was wounded in 1943 and decorated with the Distinguished Service Cross in 1944. He returned to practice law in Victoria in 1945. He sat in the Legislative Assembly as the Liberal MLA from Oak Bay from 1953 to 1960. In 1961 he was elected a Bencher of the Law Society of B.C. In 1964 he was appointed a justice of the Supreme Court of B.C., a position he held until his death.
