History
In 1970 the Glenlyon Preparatory School Society was formed to take over the ownership and operation of the school previously known as Glenlyon Preparatory School. In 1976 its name was changed to the Glenlyon School Society. It raised sufficient funds to purchase the assets of the school from the Simpson family and began to operate the school in 1972 through an elected Board of Governors. Hamish Simpson was retained as Headmaster. In February 1986 the Society voted in favour of amalgamation with the Norfolk House School Society to form the Glenlyon Norfolk House School Society. In November 1986 the name of this new society was changed to the Glenlyon-Norfolk School Society. Membership in all these societies was open to former students in good standing, and to parents of past and former students.
