<bioghist encodinganalog="3.2.2"><p>In 1970 the Glenlyon Preparatory School Society was formed to take over the ownership and operation of the school previously known as Glenlyon Preparatory School. In 1976 its name was changed to the Glenlyon School Society. It raised sufficient funds to purchase the assets of the school from the Simpson family and began to operate the school in 1972 through an elected Board of Governors. Hamish Simpson was retained as Headmaster. In February 1986 the Society voted in favour of amalgamation with the Norfolk House School Society to form the Glenlyon Norfolk House School Society. In November 1986 the name of this new society was changed to the Glenlyon-Norfolk School Society. Membership in all these societies was open to former students in good standing, and to parents of past and former students.</p></bioghist> <bioghist encodinganalog="3.2.2"><p>Glenlyon Preparatory School, founded in 1932, became a limited company in November 1957, with all shares held by members of the Simpson family. In September 1972 all the assets of the company were transferred to the recently formed Glenlyon Preparatory School Society, a non-profit organisation. This society was almost immediately renamed the Glenlyon School Society.</p></bioghist> <scopecontent encodinganalog="3.3.1"><p>Fonds consists of Board and Society Minutes and Financial Statements (1972-1986), financial and administrative records of the Head&#039;s office relating to staff and student activities both academic and extra-curricular, circulars to parents, staff and alumni, yearbooks, annual reports and Closing Ceremonies prize lists, brochures, newsletters, inspection reports, registration records (1932-1986), history of the school, membership in Independent School Associations. The fonds contains the similar student-, staff-, and parent-orientated records of Glenlyon Preparatory School Limited which were transferred to the Glenlyon School Society in 1972.</p></scopecontent> <controlaccess>

<custodhist encodinganalog="3.2.3"><p>When the Glenlyon School Society took over the assets of the Glenlyon Preparatory School Society in 1972, it also became the custodian of the textual and other records relating to the operation of the school since its founding in 1932. Thus the school records of Glenlyon Preparatory School Limited will be found in the Glenlyon School Society fonds.</p></custodhist> <accessrestrict encodinganalog="3.4.1"><p>Some restrictions may apply</p></accessrestrict> <otherfindaid encodinganalog="3.4.5"><p>Computerised file list available.</p></otherfindaid>
