Biographical history

Gary Ness was born in Saskatchewan, in 1928. His father was a furniture auctioneer who decided to send his son to Saint Georges Anglican school in Vancouver, British Columbia where he excelled at creative activities such as art and drama. ;After graduating, he attended a local art school. His talent at portraiture gained him a one year scholarship to the Parisian cole Suprieure Nationale des Beaux Arts. ;He eventually turned his passion for 17th century painting into a job at the conservation department at the Louvre, where he spent his time researching and documenting works.;Source: Todd, Stephen.
