Biographical history
Frank Alphonso Ney (b. 1891) and Ethel Ney (b. 1891) were born in England. Frank moved to Manitoba prior to World War I to accept a teaching post and married Ethel in 1915 in Winnipeg. He fought in WW I and was awarded the Military Cross for bravery. The Ney's first son, Frank J., was born in England in 1918. Son Frank was later to become Mayor of Nanaimo and an MLA for the Nanaimo riding.
