Biographical history
The Fort Langley Womens Institute was established prior to 1923 and was in existence in 1959, although its official dates of incorporation and termination are not known. The Institute encouraged education, particularly of women, and contributed, through volunteer efforts and donations, to the community. It was part of the South Fraser District Board of Womens Institutes.

Fonds consists of four series: minutes of meetings series from the Fort Langley Womens Institute, from the Flower Show Committee of the Fort Langley Womens Institute, 1923-1928, and from the South Fraser District Board of Womens Institutes of which the Fort Langley Womens Institute was a part of, 1923-1944; correspondence, 1929-1959, between members of the Institute, the Institute with other Womens Institutes, and with the general public; ephemeral series which includes an handbook and poems; and the activities series, 1940-1944, which includes records that document the Fort Langley Womens Institutes participation in agricultural training programmes and V Bundles (also known as British Bundles).
