Biographical history
The United Church in Vanderhoof began with the establishment of First Presbyterian Church in 1914, and included various other congregations at Braeside, Chilco and Fort Fraser. In 1925 the congregation entered union becoming the Vanderhoof United Church, and later (ca. 1950) First Memorial United Church. The congregation was the centre of the Vanderhoof Pastoral Charge which existed from 1925 until 1978, when First Memorial United Church was coupled with First United Church in Fort Fraser to form the current Omineca Pastoral Charge in Cariboo Presbytery. While Fort Fraser constituted a separate pastoral charge (including appointments at Endako and Fraser Lake) from 1927 to 1957, for most of this time, it received pastoral supply from Vanderhoof. Other appointments officially in the Vanderhoof Pastoral Charge included Fort St. James, Lake District and Mapes.
