  <bioghist encodinganalog="3.2.2"><p>Edward Starkins, one of the early founders of the Vancouver Exiles&#039; Association (also known as the American Exiles&#039; Association), was an American draft dodger during the Vietnam War and now works in Vancouver as a writer.</p></bioghist>  <scopecontent encodinganalog="3.3.1"><p>The fonds consists of letters, documents, records and printed material, concerning Starkin&#039;s attempts to be reclassified for the American military draft and his involvement with the Vancouver Exiles Association. Also included are transcripts of interviews (1975) for the film Salt of the Earth, concerning British Columbia labour history, produced by Starkins.</p></scopecontent>  <controlaccess>
