Biographical history

E.W. Widdowson and Company was an independent assay office which began in 1901 in Ymir, B.C. The business later located in Nelson, B.C. Edward W. Widdowson was an independent assay officer licensed by the provincial government as an assayer and an analytical chemist.

Custodial history

Records donated to the Selkirk College Archives by Atkinson Crossley, whose father, C.E.M. Crossley, purchased E.W. Widdowson and Company in 1946.

The fonds consists of assay ledgers and bound financial records.
