Strong, George Frederic

Biographical history
Dr. George Frederic Strong was born in 1897. He came to Vancouver to practice in 1923. He served as president of the Vancouver Medical Association from 1929-1930, the British Columbia Medical Association from 1936-1937, and the Canadian Medical Association from 1954-1955. Strong was also instrumental in the Greater Vancouver Health League, the B.C. Cancer Society, and founded what is now known as the G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre. He was also one of the first sessional professors appointed when the Faculty of Medicine was established at UBC. He died in 1957.

The fonds consists of honorary degrees and life membership certificates awarded to Dr. Strong in his later years, in addition to a photograph of Dr. Strong in doctoral robes.
