Biographical history

Dallas Dennis (ca. 1910-1990) was born in North or South Dakota, moving with her family to a farm in Alberta. She married Rudolph Kamlah (1906-1998) who worked as a hired hand on the Dennis farm, the two of them moving to Delta in the 1930s. Rudolf worked for Art Swenson and other farmers in the Delta area and Dallas worked as a housekeeper, until they rented farmland from the Tambolines on Westham Island in 1941. By 1953 the Kamlahs had purchased their own farm from the Kirklands on Westham Island where the family continues to farm. Dallas and Rudolf had a small dairy herd and poultry operation as well as raising crops for the local cannery and for livestock feed. Dallas and Rudolf had four children: Dennis, Gerald, Ron and Leonora. Dallas served as president of the Delta Central Parent-Teacher Association and the Delta Parent Teacher Council, served on the executive of the Delta Museum and Historical Society, and was an active member of the Ladner United Church Women.
