        History

        Ivan Cumming was born on September 1, 1927 in Barrie, Ontario. He earned degrees from the University of Western Ontario, Queen's Theological College, and Oberlin Theological College, including a Doctor of Ministry and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from St. Stephen's College, Alberta. Cumming's ministry began formally upon ordination in 1953. He served congregations in Golden, BC (St. Andrew's United Church, 1953-1955), Burnaby (Deer Lake United Church, 1955-1959), and Vancouver (Ryerson United Church, 1987-1993). He also dedicated much of his career to education and administration, first as BC Field Secretary for Christian Education (1962-1967), then as Director at Naramata Centre (1968-1980), and as Executive Secretary for BC Conference (1981-1987). Ivan Cumming died on October 7, 2007 at Vancouver.
