    Biographical history

    According to the Nanaimo Free Press, on September 18,1875, a Foresters Ball was held at the Mechanics Institute to celebrate the newly established Lodge. The Chief Ranger was James Knight, the Vice-Chairman was Mayor Bate, and Reverend George Manson gave the blessing. The Foresters' Hall was located at the corner of Skinner Street and Bastion Street. The local Foresters' Court was named Nanaimo Foresters' Home No. 5886 and was part of the Columbia District. This was the first fraternal organization in Nanaimo to provide housing for seniors. The society was dissolved in 1976.

    The fonds consists of correspondence, financial statements, proposals, contracts, minutes and proceedings, registers and one photograph. The fonds has been arranged into the following series: 1.
