Biographical history

The Commercial Department or class was first begun in March of 1892 by Sister Mary Providence and an assistant. Her assistant Sister Mary Matthew commenced the class again in 1894, but due to her health, classes were not continued until the 1897-1898 school year. The Commercial Department remained as part of the Academy's operations until 1968-1969 school year, when it was discontinued.
