Cedar Hill Mission

Biographical history

A mission to the Cedar Hill District was operating in private homes from 1861 in affiliation with Christ Church Cathedral. In 1875 a priest was appointed to Cedar Hill and Lake Districts. Saanich and Lake Districts were affiliated by 1880 and the Cedar Hill area was again served from the Cathedral, which was responsible in 1882 for the Cedar Hill, Lake and Metchosin regions. The following year, another priest was assigned to the Cedar Hill and Lake missions. In 1885, a proposal was developed to replace an existing mission church at Cedar Hill with a stone church (the Church of St. Luke).
