History
The Bulkley Valley Museum at Smithers, B.C., is operated by the Bulkley Valley Historical and Museum Society. The museum was initially organized in 1961 and first began displaying exhibits in 1967. In 1983, it moved to its present location. The museum houses artifacts, photographs, archival records and historical reference material, including newspapers, relating to Smithers and the Bulkley Valley from Houston to the east to Hazelton in the west.

The Bulkley Valley Museum collects archival material that illustrates the settlement and development of the Bulkley Valley. Priority is given to: 1)material illustrating the mining, logging and fur-trading industries and, 2)material illustrating the development and operation of the Grand Trunk/Canadian National Railway between Prince Rupert and Prince George.
