Biographical history

A British Columbia division of the Canadian Association of Radiologists became affiliated with the British Columbia Medical Association in 1939. Although initially formed for scientific purposes, the section became responsible for economic matters after 1949. In 1952, the division was incorporated as the British Columbia Radiological Society. The primary goals of the society are to advance the science of radiology, promote the quality of radiological services and standards, and promote ethical standards, education and occupational welfare for radiologists in British Columbia. The society serves as the official liaison between radiologists and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC and the Canadian Association of Radiologists, and functions as the Section of Radiology of the British Columbia Medical Association.
