Biographical history
The original B.C. Federation of Labour was founded in Vancouver in 1910 but disbanded in 1920. Following an amalgamation of industrial and trade unions, the founding convention of the united B.C. Federation of Labour (CLC) occurred in 1956.
Custodial history
Scope and content
The fonds consists of research files compiled during the writing of Paul Phillip's No Power Greater: A Century of Labour in British Columbia, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, political education material, history questionnaires and minutes of the Federation and affiliated associations. Five subsequent accessions have resulted in the deposit of office files, financial records, briefs, convention proceedings, speeches, memoranda, photographs and sound recordings reflecting the wide scope of activity and interest pursued by the Federation.
