History
The Bowen Island Park & Store Use Society (1979-1987) was established to pursue the creation of parkland on the island and to have the Union Steamships Co. "Old General Store" declared a structure of provincial significance and restored. The society enjoyed a successful working relationship with the Greater Vancouver Regional District as both parties worked through the development and incorporation of a Regional Park space near Snug Point that included a large measure of the old USSC property near and around Deep Bay. Crippen Regional Park and the "Old General Store" were dedicated at 1984's Heritage Day, after which the affairs of the society were wound-up.
