History

William Bovill, Senior, was born in 1872. He came to Canada from Ireland with his three sons - John, James (Jim), and William, Junior; leaving behind his three daughters - Elizabeth, Dorothy (Blair), and Meta (Dace). In 1928 he and his sons decided to live in Smithers and this remained his home until his death on January 21, 1940. The Bovill businesses included Hann and Bovill Construction, Bovill Motors, and Hetherington and Hooper Men's Store in Smithers.
