Biographical history

Bill Chambers was born on November 24, 1924, in Vancouver. In March of 1942 he moved to the Campbell River area and went to work for Elk River Timber Co. (ERT). Initially he worked at ERT Camp No. 9 as an office clerk then relocated to Camp No.8 where he worked as the timekeeper then as an accountant. Eventually he became ERT's office manager and in 1954 the General Manager, a position he held until his retirement in 1974. In addition, Chambers was an active member of logging associations and community groups.

The fonds consists of books, directories,magazines, photographs, manuscripts and motion picture film relating specifically to Bill Chambers' involvement in the logging industry and his various positions at the Elk River Timber Company.
