Biographical history
Edward Dodsley Barrow was born at Ringwood, Hampshire, England and emigrated to the Fraser Valley in 1892. Barrow was a farmer, who served as Councillor of the Township of Chilliwhack, President of the Chilliwack Creamery Association, and President of the Fraser Valley Milk Producers' Association. In 1916, Barrow was elected as the Liberal MLA for Chilliwack. He became provincial Minister of Agriculture and was instrumental in the completion of the Sumas Lake Reclamation Project. In 1928, he married Ralphia Weir Stitt McLean. He had two daughters, Dorothy and Hilda, from his first wife, Millicent, who died in 1922.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of records of the Barrow family, including those of Edward Dodsley Barrow relating to his career in provincial politics, his involvement in agricultural cooperatives and organizations, and his activities relating to the Sumas Lake Reclamation Project. Fonds also contains personal and household records of the Barrow family, including political and club records of Ralphia Barrow and records of Hilda and Dorothy Barrow. Fonds also includes business and production records of the Barrow farm (1919-1962) and family photographs.
